Glowbox was built out of pure passion.

It started the way the best things always do — with a kid, a wall full of posters, and a mom who believed in magic. Born in 1981, Jesse Lee Snodgrass was raised in Kansas City right in the heart of the 1980s and 90s — arcades, malls, movie theaters, and the shopping malls of America's golden era. The glow of a marquee. The larger-than-life artwork of a movie poster. The feeling that something extraordinary was happening just behind that lit-up frame.

His mother Nancy was his hero. She loved the movies more than anyone he's ever known — and she made sure he loved them too. She would walk into VHS rental stores and ask the manager if they had any extra posters her son could have. Jesse would plaster every inch of his walls. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Batman. Star Wars. Thriller. The Dark Crystal. Van Damme. Swamp Thing. Each poster a portal to another world — and each one a gift from her.

In 1990, Nancy took Jesse and his cousin Dru to see Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Walking through the lobby at Metro North Mall, Jesse stopped dead in his tracks. There it was — a light box glowing with the original TMNT poster, the turtles peeking up through the sewer lid. He was in awe. That electric glow did something to his soul.

That image never left him. He had to find a way to create one.

The family lost Nancy in 2015. But the feeling she blessed Jesse with made him who he is — and became the inspiration behind WORLD FAMOUS Glowbox Frames.

After earning his Graphic Design degree and spending over two decades as an eCommerce consumer — experiencing both extraordinary and deeply disappointing customer service along the way — Jesse made a decision. He would build a company that honored that childhood magic. A company that treated every customer the way he always wanted to be treated. A company that made something no one else in the world was making.

In 2013, right in the heartland of America — Kansas City, Missouri — Glowbox LLC was born. Every frame we make carries a piece of Nancy's spirit in it.

Glowbox is our inner child. The part of us that never lets go.
